A man, identified as Edward Ibrahim of Digil road in Mubi North LGA, Adamawa State, has been incarcerated for allegedly attempting to harm a female staff member at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, named Tsinivery John Jajuwal.
The incident took place at the Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi Staff Quarters on January 11, 2024.
The accused, armed with a locally made pistol, unlawfully entered the victim’s residence, instigating an alarming situation.
In a distressing turn of events, he pointed the pistol at the female staff member, threatening her life and causing injuries to various parts of her body.
Following the victim’s outcry, the assailant fired a shot into the air before making a hasty escape.
This terrifying episode led to the subsequent arrest and remand of Edward Ibrahim in prison custody.
The Chief Magistrate Court I, under the jurisdiction of Muhammed Buba, has charged the defendant with “house trespass, criminal force, assault and attempt to commit culpable homicide.”
During the court proceedings, Edward Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the multiple charges outlined in the First Information Report (FIR).
Inspector S.S. Nicholas, the prosecuting police officer, detailed that the defendant’s actions violated sections 334, 240, 241, and 201 of the penal code law.
In response to the plea, the prosecutor urged the court to remand Ibrahim in the correctional center to facilitate forwarding the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal guidance.
