How US Embassy Staff Were Burned to Death by Anambra Hoodlums - Police

 


Two police officers, two consular officers were killed, no US citizens were involved in the incident

Police in Anambra on Tuesday evening reported an attack on personnel of the US embassy in the state. Earlier on Tuesday, a convoy of US embassy officials was attacked in Ogbaru local government of the state. Four people are said to have died in the tragic incident. Giving further insight into the attack, the state police public relations officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu disclosed that two policemen and two US consulate officials were killed by the thugs. Tochukwu in a statement said the incident happened at 3.30pm on Tuesday along the Atani road in Osamale, Ogbaru LGA. According to the statement: "Joint security forces launched a rescue and recovery operation in Ogbaru LGA following an attack on a convoy of US consulate personnel today 16/05/2023 at 15:30 along Atania Osamale road. Two PMF personnel and two consulate personnel were murdered and their bodies and vehicles set on fire to burn. "Furthermore, the arsonists/murderers kidnapped two police officers and the driver of another vehicle after seeing the joint security forces who responded and took them away. There were no US citizens in the convoy. “The command regrets that such a convoy or anyone close to them would enter the country without consulting the police or security agencies in the area, but assured that the fight against insurgency is concentrated in the country and will remain in force until security stability is fully restored .restored.
