The Anambra State chapter of the Labor Party (LP) led by Chief Ugochukwu Emeh has passed a vote of confidence on the national executive of the party led by Julius Abure.
They also expressed their unwavering support for the party's presidential flag bearer in the February 25, 2023 general election, Peter Obi and his running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, in their ongoing legal battle at the Election Petitions- Court to take back his mandate. . They excommunicated the state shortly after a meeting with journalists at the state secretariat in Awka at the weekend over what they described as "incitement of abuse and pressure by some misguided associates led by one Alh Lamidi Apapa". The resolutions read in part: “At the end of the Anambra State Executive Council of the Labor Party, the elected Local Government Chairmen/Secretaries, National Assemblies/State Assemblies on the platform of the party resolved that; “The national leadership of the LP will be given a vote of confidence led by our great party leader Barrister Julius Abure; the State Secretary, Alh Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the State Organizing Secretary, Chief Clement Ojukwu and the Treasurer. "That the vote of confidence given to the leadership of the state was because of their outstanding work for the party in various positions as state officials and party leaders. “We have also decided that the attempt by Alh Lamidi Apapa and his pocket group to divide the leadership of LP was an unnecessary and unnecessary attempt at confusion which should not be allowed at all. "Therefore, we call on Apapa and his fellow travelers to retrace their steps so that history will be kind to them. We stand with Julius Abure and his leading national leadership every step of the way."
